Is It Spring Yet?

No, I'm not really tired of snow yet...it is still January. But in March, I know I'll be ready for spring.

Here's something to remind me of spring...it's a small wallhanging I made in mid-2004 after learning how to English paper-piece from a friend in my guild. The hexagons were hand-stitched together to form the flowers and then I appliqued them to the blocks. I did a little free-motion quilting on my sewing machine using monofilament thread.

It is thanks to fellow quilters like this friend (Happy Early Birthday, Mary Jane!) that I have been able to improve my skills as a quilter over the last 10 years. The support, encouragement, and inspiration that I've received from other quilters is priceless. And applique is no longer a four-letter word for me...

Love the way you showed off the Hex Garden! Reminds me there's a UFO or two. Or 3 different stages & shapes of English Paper Piecing. Must shuffle one of them closer to the UFO pile I keep promising I'm going to work on :)

Very pretty Anya, you are right it does make a person think spring! Keep in handy because in PA winter can last a lonnnnnnng time! Actually winter can sneak back in during April, you need to keep that wallhanging very close by! Have a great day!

I love that little quilt! It's refreshing. Yes winter is long, longer in northern Maine, but here in Ontario, today the sun was shining and it felt like the days were getting longer...spring is closer than you think..

That one is very bright and certainly says "spring" to me!

It will probably be the first of May before we get any spring weather...that's a long way off. It's a good thing I have quilting projects to keep me busy.

Although I am not a quilter, I love quilts. This one is breath-taking - you have such a talent for selecting and arranging colors!
