Not Quilting-Related

This is where my family will be tonight...it's the reason that I was almost arrested for child abuse last week when I put my son through the "ordeal" of shopping for dress clothes.

After trying on several colors of slacks, my son settled on a nice charcoal gray pair (actually made in the USA!) with a light gray dress shirt. I then asked him to pick a tie, but he didn't seem to be in the mood to make more clothing decisions, so when he didn't speak up...I said "how about this one?". He said fine and so it came home with us.

I liked the bright colors...

To my surprise...on the way home, Nick made a comment about the fact that he hadn't really had a chance to look the ties over carefully (who was the one who wanted to get out of there quickly?)...
So, when we went back on Monday to pick up the altered slacks, he chose this one instead. He said that the red one looked like it "had paint splattered all over it". I ask you, did this one take more artistic talent?

I don't really mind that he picked a different tie...I'm glad he actually made a decision.

The salesman told me that these Jerry Garcia ties are extremely popular...they sell out very quickly. I've read the same thing online as well...I thought the economy was in bad shape and people weren't spending money...do you know how much fabric I could buy for the price of one of these ties?...I'm not really complaining, though...Nick's a good kid...

If anyone in my local area ever has to buy men's clothes, I can definitely recommend Garrison's Men's Shop here in Wellsboro. Sure, I could probably go to a big box chain store and buy something for less money, but the service in a small-town store is priceless. Where else could we walk out of the store with a dress shirt and silk tie and not have to pay for them until we picked up the altered slacks the following week? They have a "take it home for approval" policy. And in a small town, everybody knows everybody, so we wouldn't get very far if we attempted to shoplift...as a matter of fact, the store owner's daughter is my son's classmate and his wife was my yoga teacher last year...

Anya, here I sit with my cup of coffee after having had a visit yesterday of my oldest son and his 19 yr old daughter. He told the stories of him being a teenager and me threatening him with death every day when I woke him up in the morning! Now he has a son coming up to that age and already it has begun....(thank you lord) Payback time is in the air! LOL>
Have fun at the ceremony, and take photos, he will look so very handsome and I love the tie he picked out by the way.

I liked the tie you picked out better - it was very unique I thought with the splash of "paint" whoever designed that one had talent!

We have severe allergic reactions here to ties stemming from too many years of corporate meetings. However I must say that I love both of those ties.

Congratulations to your son. :)

Your son will be very well dressed! I think he picked out a great tie. I liked the red one, too, but his looks more like a younger man would wear.
