Paper Piecing Delight

I made this quilt in the summer of 2005...it was another block-of-the-month project from Our Gathering Place in Montoursville, PA. I had enjoyed making my first BOM from that shop (see my post about it here) so much that I jumped right in when they had this one on display.

Like the first BOM, this one required paper piecing and consists entirely of batiks. The instructions were perfect...I had no trouble at all understanding what to do. Quilters who are new to paper piecing are often turned off and discouraged because of inadequate instructions. That was not the case with any of the BOM's I've made that were designed by Veronica Jones from OGP (I made 3 total).

I believe the title of this one was "Summer in Bali"....yesterday certainly felt like "Summer in Wellsboro"...I'm hoping that the temperatures will soon be down to springtime level -- 70 is fine by me...

I love the brightly colored stars.
I agree paper piecing is such fun. I have completely given up the traditional piecing in favor of it. I like it because the blocks can be so much more detailed. Of course, it makes quilting pretty difficult, so I have to find a happy medium.
