Get The Red Out

I found this backing last week for my son's going-away-to-college quilt...so far I've washed it twice and the lint in the dryer trap is still very red...I wonder how many more times I'll have to throw it in the washer to ensure that the white fabrics on the front of the quilt don't turn pink! If that happens, I'm sure that the quilt will wind up in the back of the closet someplace...

The photo was taken before the first washing...right now the selvage has a definite pink cast to it...

Have you tried Shout Color Catchers in your wash load? I swear by them. They are in the laundry aisle. They are like a dryer sheet but you throw them in the washer instead.

I agree with Jackie, Shout Color catchers are great. I would put one or two in the mext load when you wash the backing again.

Red runs so much! But, it's a great punch colour.
I bought a red sheet which I haven't used for a red and white top I have. It's the red that I worry about that it will run again when all put together.
I love the quilt...too funny...he'll put it in the back of the closet!

Absolutely try the Color Catchers. Don't know what I would do without them.

Hi have you ever tried Retayne. I bought it in a quilt shot and have found it very good with red.I have never seen color catchers up here in Canada and they sound very good to.

Red is so pretty AND so runny!

I love that "Marbelous" fabric by Kaufman but for what ever reason the whole line of it seems to run, regardless of colour. Yet I've used a greast red called Lipstick in the Fusion 5573 line from Kaufman and that one hardly runs at all. So I'm not sure what the difference is given that both fabrics are coming from the same manufacturer.

I would definitely use the Shout Color Catchers on this one.

I agree with the ladies that the color catchers are great. I also use a little salt in the wash. That also helps.
