Next Stop -- Marble Canyon, AZ

More vacation photos -- skip if you're not interested. And those who are, remember, you can click on the photos for a larger view.

On our way to the Grand Canyon, we stopped for the night in the area of Vermilion Cliffs and Marble Canyon, AZ. This was a view along the highway...

This is the lodge where we spent the night. It was definitely a fishermen's lodge -- nothing fancy, just a place to sleep and shower. But we loved the location....

Although the lodge itself was simple, the restaurant was the best one of the trip (well, actually it's a tie with the Chinese restaurant in our Las Vegas hotel). We had a great dinner and breakfast at an outdoor table. Lots of spice and flavor in our food.

Another shot of the lodge....

The lodge is the starting point for some of the groups going on a several-day rafting trip down through the Grand Canyon...

The original owners of the lodge property built houses out of the nearby rocks that had fallen off of the cliffs. Several of those buildings are still there today...

I bought a lovely bracelet from a very friendly woman who had set up her stand...

About ten miles from the lodge, we stopped on the Navajo Bridge...

The bridge crosses the Colorado River...I guess you could consider this the narrow part of the Grand Canyon...

And this was where my birding husband was in heaven -- he was able to add California Condor to his life list...

I have to admit, they are quite impressive when they're flying. Even my son and I were in awe. But when they don't have their wings spread out, they are quite ugly...IMHO....

For Suzanne in Vermont

Suzanne -- You recently commented on my post about a baby quilt and asked me a question about the quilting. I can't answer you directly by email because your Blogger profile is set to "no reply", so I'll answer it here, hoping that you'll see this. (If you want to know how to change your profile so that it's not set on "no reply", here's a good explanation).

Now, in answer to your question....yes, the quilting was done free-motion on my HQ16 and was very easy to do, no template required.

If anyone out there knows Suzanne in Vermont, please let her know...
P.S. I don't remember exactly what size this quilt turned out to be, but it was probably approximately 40 x 48.

Next Stop -- Bryce Canyon National Park

Lots and lots of photos today -- we couldn't help it, Bryce Canyon was jaw-dropping and there were photo opportunities everywhere! (as usual, click on the photos to enlarge)

These shots are along the road from Zion to Bryce Canyon ...

The start of a magnificent hike down and then back up -- Queen's Garden and Navajo Loop...

This tree was at the start of the climb back up...

This view is looking back at where we had just hiked through...It's called Wall Street...

Closer to the top...

We had hiked through lots of switchbacks...I'm glad we did it going up, not going down...

At the top...

Pink dust everywhere....

And just more shots of the general scenery....
