Spring Is Coming

I have to tell myself that...spring is coming...it really is...but a bit too slowly for me right now. I love the cold and snow for a couple of months in the winter, but by mid-February, I'm ready for warmer temperatures. And since it doesn't look like that will be happening around here for a while, I decided that I needed to work on something to make it seem like spring. Besides, this top has been finished since June 2011, so it's about time I finished it, right?

I've finished the quilting on this, and am now working on the binding...sitting by the fireplace while looking out at my snow-covered yard.

Another Emotional Project

My quilt made with NYC fabrics is now complete and in the hands of the new owner.

Click on the photos for a larger view.

The pattern is called "Falling Charms" by Missouri Star Quilt Company and a video on it can be found by clicking here.

Here's a closeup of the quilting.....just an easy meander...

And a shot of the pieced back...

Love striped bias binding....

This quilt is now in the hands of someone that I care about who is in the middle of chemo/radiation treatment for colon cancer. When I started the top, I didn't have anyone in particular in mind for the quilt, but a few weeks ago, it became clear who the recipient should be. A NYC quilt for a (former) NYC girl.

Here's a closeup of some of the fabrics used...

Emotional Quilting

I've been working on a couple of projects recently that have been tough on the emotions. The photos below are for a group project in my guild. We're making a guild banner that incorporates a center panel that was made in the very early years of our guild (first meeting was in 1998) by one of our founders (MJ). MJ was a very inspiring woman and our guild felt a great loss when she passed away last August. It will be a wonderful tribute to her when the banner is finished. Eventually, I'll post photos when it's complete, so stay tuned.

Hard To See

After looking at it on my quilting frame for the last two weeks, I finally got around to quilting my latest flimsy (see my previous post for a photo). The meandering is easy to do, but takes a bit of concentration when quilting on fabric that matches the thread...

Now for the binding...
