"Fun Is Good" -- Dr. Seuss

In honor of the new Dr. Seuss book that was released this week, I finished another Dr. Seuss quilt.

I've lost count of the number of Dr. Seuss quilts that I've made over the last several years; I believe this is number 5. Most of them have gone to local fundraising events for libraries and teen book clubs, and now this one goes to the grandchild of a friend who is very involved with our local library.

The pattern is my all-time favorite quick quilt, Quick Strippie, graciously provided free to quilters by Mary on MaryQuilts.com.

Here's a closeup of the easy meandering quilting and the fun fabric...

She's Home!

My version of the Jane Stickle quilt is finally home after traveling to a few U.S. quilt shows over the last year, including the International Quilt Festival in Houston. As much as I loved having my quilt on display for others to see, it feels really good to have it back on my wall again. Sometimes I look at it and wonder, what the heck ever possessed me to make this? All I know is that I never would have been able to complete it without the support of my local quilting friends and the support of my readers in cyberspace. Thank you all!

I am very impressed with how my quilt was packaged for her trip home...

It might be hard to see in the photo, but the note says "Packed with tender love and care and white-gloved", and then signed by those who handled it. There was acid-free paper rolled up inside the quilt to prevent creases, and then it was all packed in acid free paper and a heavy-duty plastic bag, inside a sturdy box.

Straight From the Heart

Finished just in time for a quilt show deadline. This one's a big one -- about 77 inches square.

Soon after I first put the squares up on my design wall in March, I found a mug to match!

Binding, Binding, Binding

I've now finished the quilting on my current project, so now I have miles and miles of binding to sew on in time for Monday's deadline. Thank goodness for Netflix!

Quilting, Quilting, Quilting

There's nothing like a deadline to motivate me to finish the quilting on my current project. This big quilt needs to be ready to photograph (binding and all) by Monday morning if I want to enter it in an upcoming show this September.

Another Finish!

This quilt was quick and easy -- it's all made of half-square triangles. It kind of looks like DNA, doesn't it?

Here's a closeup of the quilting, backing, and bias striped binding.

I love making quilts using half-square triangles. There are endless possibilities for designs.
