The Wings Work!

Well, my son Nick is now officially out of my nest...He's starting to settle in at Cornell and is probably adjusting better than my husband and I are...

I'm pleased to say that he has taken his dorm quilt with him and has put it on his bed (at least it's there when I'm around). It's hard to believe that he was once this 9-year-old with the first quilt I made for him...

How can I be so happy and so sad at the same time?...

They do grow up way too fast. He looks quite content in his dorm room and the quilt you made him looks fantastic on the bed. I know you will start to get used to the routing of not having him there. But don't worry I am sure there will be tons of phone calls!

I hate to say it but you will be used to the empty nest before you know it. The quilt looks great on his bed - I wish him well in college.

Anya, you did good gal. Nick's quilt is just perfect for his college room. How the years have gone by since the first quilt and Nick has grown into a wonderful man.
You should be proud.

Would you have ever believed that those first eighteen years would go so quickly? It does take time to adjust. Keep busy!!!

The quilt looks lovely and I'm sure he will look at it and think of home every once in a while. Good luck with this new stage in all of your lives. Like you, I am experiencing new stages this year. My youngest son got married on 30th July and my middle son is going to be a daddy in the middle of October. My nest is no longer empty because my eldest son has come home for a while to 'sort himself out'! Life never stays the same for long, does it!
Blessings, Star

The quilt looks great on Nick's bed and he looks very comfortable in his new surroundings! I know it will be a little bit harder for you to adjust, but trust me, it won't be long and you won't want things any other way!

The quilt looks great and Nick looks so comfortable.

You and Gary have done a wonderful job raising Nick and you both should be so proud.

I just can't believe that the cute little blond of five years old and the nine year old blond are the same mature fellow. Sure you didn't get him mixed up some day at after school pickup.

Please mention that Nick is the talented guy who did the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild website as his senior project. We were so fortunate.

WOW the quilt looks great in Nick's dorm room! I know he is very proud of the quilt and of his being a college guy (he looks the part)! You and your hubby can be proud, and your nest is never really empty, they do like to come home! One suggestion, when my son left for college, his first trip home, he was pleased that I HAD NOT CHANGED HIS ROOM AT HOME, I honestly didn't realize this would be important to him. I wanted the room to be as he left it, because I missed him, strange how it worked for both of us! Have a good week, stay busy!
