Las Vegas, Part Two

Warning -- this is a very photo-heavy post about my recent trip to the Southwest -- non-quilting related -- so if you're not interested in seeing vacation photos, just skip it today.

(click on the photos to enlarge)

Our hotel -- the Palazzo -- sister-hotel to the Venetian...We had a great rate because we arrived on the last day of a three-day weekend.

Looking down into the lobby...

One complaint we had about the lobby in the hotel (and we saw it in many others as well) -- the only places to sit down were in the casino (at the machines or gaming tables) or in a restaurant. And you have to walk through the casino to get to the restaurants, shoppes, and rooms.

Another part of the lobby area, decorated for Memorial Day...

Our view from the 44th floor...

We took a long walk all the way down the strip (in upper-90-degree heat) from our hotel -- two miles down and two miles back, with lots of side trips along the way into the casinos and hotels, so I'm sure we walked more than five miles in all.

Caesar's Palace was huge...

Las Vegas is sort of like Disney World or Epcot -- lots of fake stuff -- fake Rome, fake Paris, fake New York City, fake Egypt, fake Venice.

I prefer the real NYC instead of this...

Seeing the real pyramids in person would be better...

One of our favorite movies is (the new) "Ocean's Eleven", so of course we had to take a shot of the Bellagio...

Fake Venetian canal and gondola...

Lovely, lovely interior of the Venetian, but seeing real tile floors in Italy would be better....
