Today, my guild welcomes Ami Simms for a lecture on "How Not To Make a Prize-Winning Quilt". Should be great fun!
Many of you may know that Ami is the founder of the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative, a volunteer effort to raise awareness and raise funds for research on the disease. One of the ways that the organization raises funds is by auctioning small art quilts.
My guild decided to thank Ami for coming by making our own AAQI quilts to be donated to her at tonight's meeting. This is my contribution. Just something I made up using selvages.
If you have never read Ami's blog or newsletter, you must. They are a fun read!

Ami is great! I am jealous that she will be at your guild. You will have a great time I am sure.
have fun, I just recently decided to quit my guild once again because they never pay for anyone to come visit! I'm tired of it and decided it is not for me. It would have been so much more interesting if they would have well known people come to talk and show how to do things.

OK now I am just plain envious...the guild that I attend infrequently just doesn't have great speakers or trunk shows! I think it would encourage more to be part of the guild if they did!
What a cool selvage quilt! You are so creative. It sounds like the guild program with Ami was awesome. I love her sense of humor. Did you learn how not to make a prize-winning quilt? :)
