I also included a pillowcase for when she graduates to a "big kid" bed in a couple of years. Luckily, I had some fabric from "The Quiltmaker's Gift" line that was out several years ago still in my stash. It worked perfectly with the book.
And whenever I send a gift for a new baby, in order to prevent unnecessary tears from older siblings, I include something handmade for them as well. This time, older brother gets a couple of fun pillowcases. His room is decorated in a fun kidsy lodgey decor and the family spends several weeks each summer at a cabin in Maine, so this fabric was perfect, don't you think?

Yes perfect indeed!! I love the idea of including the book, especially the "Quiltmakers" book, I love that book and I am not a kid :>)!! Pillowcases are so much fun, so many ideas jump around in my head when I make for the grandchildren...I try to go with a theme that suits their loves! Sometimes the pillowcases have quite a few flanges :>)!! Have a fun filled day ~ I am guessing you have snow too!
What a thoughtful gift giver you are, Anya. Having no young children in my life, I am not familiar with those books, but I intend to look them up. How thoughtful to include the big brother in your gift.
You are so generous and thoughtful Anya!
I love those books. I was a "guest" reader in my daughters class a few years ago and I read them the first one. I also brought along some quilts to show. It was a lot of fun.
