I have been on a fabric-buying diet since December 28th. At that time, I pledged only to use my stash and not to buy any fabric except for backings and maybe bindings. This weekend I bought the fabric below for a backing (it's a much prettier celery green than in the photo) for the project I blogged about earlier this month.
And the fabric in the top photo is a kit that I bought as a souvenir in Key West, so it's not a fabric purchase, it's a souvenir purchase. The kit is for the quilt on the right in the bottom photo.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I like that... a souvenir purchase. I will have to remember that, it may come in handy.
Me too, that is a good idea, and I think I could get away with a few fat quarters and say I needed them so I could use them for piecing together a backing :)
Sounds like a perfectly acceptable story to me! (The souvenir quilt is going to be great!)
yes your keepsake gift to yourself from Florida sounds good to me - you could have bought shells or something but this you can use :)

It seems like a mighty fine story too!
Why of course it's a souvenir. Much more practical than those paintings on black velvet.
Haha, souvenir purchase! I love it. Can I buy souvenirs from my local quilt shop, too? :)
LOL, souvenir purchase! I think your purchase is much better than say...a plastic pink flamingo. I agree that is not falling off the wagon!
Great "souvenir" for what must have been a wonderful trip! Enjoy your week!
