I've started the "country color project" (see previous post)... and spent some time cutting off dog ears...
I just want to say to the new quilters out there -- this is a necessary step. Don't skip it...Dog ears just make for unnecessary bulk that can mess things up when you're sewing blocks together or quilting the quilt.

But they look pretty in your picture :>)! I agree they are annoying to work around, I cut mine away too!
What are dog ears? Iguess I am the new quilter you are referring to.
of definitely they have to go. I can't imagine trying to sew blocks together with those little triangles sticking out all over the place.
Anya , I know the dog ears can be a pain to take care of, Mom & I have the Marti Mitchell Templates where you cut the dog ears the same time you cut the pieces ,The templates have a slanted corner.
I will try to show what they look like in one of my post. you might be able to order some through your favorite Quilt shop , they are expensive but well worth it, there is patterns and instructions with each set .I have sets A,B.C,and a couple extras ,I love them .
