Closeup
This is my version of the Jelly Roll 1600 Race quilt....the strips are all from vintage sheets found in thrift stores. See my previous post for a photo of some other quilts of the same pattern but with different fabrics.
Edited 8:00 AM -- to see what my friend Susan has done with her quilt, click here. I think the borders she added are a great improvement!

People are going to start thinking that we are not only planning our quilts together but planning/posting our blog posts together as well! Great minds think alike, don't they?
Looks gorgeous! Until I started reading blogs, I never would have thought about using vintage sheets. I think I have a whole stack of them in storage. I'll have to check them out at some point.
do you find the vintage sheets just the right softness for working with? are places on the sheets too worn to use? The quilt turned out really pretty. I had not thought to look for sheets at the goodwill type of stores.

Beautiful! I do love the border on Susan's. It finishes the design off.
I love, love this out of vintage sheets. I need to look for these or start a swap. Very nice.

L-O-V-E it!
Beautiful. I have been cutting my pieces for this quilt, but still a long way to go. My mom cut all Christmas fabrics for hers. Am looking forward to sewing with her.
I thought id stop by and post a comment since im checking out some new blogs. So greetings from the Amish settlement of Lebanon ,Pa. Richard from Amish Stories.
I love how you and Susan used vintage sheets. All the quilts look great!
What a wonderful look with the vintage sheets, soft and gentle, restful...can't think of enough words to express how sweet your quilt is! Yes and I also like the border on Susan's, are you going to border yours? The colors are blending beautifully!
