I Have To Brag

This isn't quilt-related, but I have to brag about my husband winning a photography contest sponsored by Swarovski Optik. You can check out the winning photos here. His photo is the one of the chipmunk (cute, isn't it?). He won 5th place in the world and 1st for the U.S. While you're at the website, check out the other 19 top photos.

In 2007, Gary won a second place in one of the categories in Wild Bird Magazine's photo contest. His is the Eastern Bluebird about halfway down the page.

All the winning photos are lovely to look at, just like our quilts!

Ours is a perfect marriage...he has a hobby that requires a lot of toys and I have one, too! Here's a sample conversation in our house...

Husband: How many sewing machines and fabric does anybody need anyway?

Wife: How many binoculars and cameras does anybody need anyway?

P.S. He used his prize winnings to buy a new camera!

Congratulations to Gary ~ he must be a very patient man to snap some of those pics! The "chipmunk" is adorable, look at those full cheeks! Good use of his prize money, but he is already doing a great job with the original camera! Of course as a quilter my brain would think prize money would be put to fabric...I love my present sewing machine, not ready to replace it! CONGRATS again, I know you are proud of Gary!

Congrats to your hubby. I love wildlife and he took really cute pictures. My favorite all time wildlife picture is the Mad BlueBird, I'm sure you or your hubby probably seen it before. I even did a crosstitch of the picture, unfortunitly my ex boyfriend has the crosstitch. Oh well..

What a terrific photograph. It's so sharp that you can even see the little claws on his fingers. And the colors in the grass. Beautiful.

Congratulations to Gary.

Darilyn

That's a great picture! He must have had to be very very still and quiet.
I have a rule: if my husband spends money on something he likes (sports memorabilia from ebay) then I can spend the same amount on fabric! Works for me!
