College Bound
Cornell
I have to brag a bit...
Today, my son Nick is taking his SAT math and biology tests. Several colleges that he plans to apply to require these subject tests in addition to the regular SAT tests, which he has already taken. And although his father and I don't think he needs to retake the regular SATs, Nick is considering it in the fall since he's not quite happy with his 710 in math and 710 in writing. He likes his perfect 800 score in the verbal part of the test and thinks that he should be given the option of not taking that one again. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. If he wants to improve some of the regular SAT scores, he's going to have to take all three sections again, even the verbal section. But of course he could still use the 800 score on college applications.
The slideshow is from a visit our family made last weekend to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Nick has been accepted into the summer college program for high school students up there this year, so we decided to go up and look around. We had been there last summer and all of us liked the campus quite a bit. We've made trips to various colleges over the last year and so far, Cornell seems to be the top one on Nick's list. He (and we) hope that spending 6 weeks this summer up there attending college-level classes and living on campus will help him decide how strongly he wants to attend for 4 years.
Now I just have to figure out how to make tuition money from my quilting...lots of it...

Sounds like he has a bright future. Our nephews went to Ithaca College. Very beautiful campuses for Cornell and Ithaca. For whatever reason, I couldn't get the slideshow to play. Hmmm... Although it said it was playing. By the way, if you find out how to make lots of money with your quilting, let me in on your secret!
You should be proud.
It is a true reason to brag...that is a great accomplishment, and a beautiful campus! Good luck to your son!
Hey, Congrats on the high SAT score! I remember how wonderful it was to have them 'push' for the better grades. You are right to be proud.
